Hi great article, i have two sons nearing the dreaded learn me to drive dad moment, Here in Ireland your full drivers permit is a pretty hard test.
So once they have passed the test i have agreed to purchase and insure a small car no more than 1.2 litres, was thinking along the lines of vw polo, toyota yaris etc.
Totally argreement on the car thats right for them versus the dream starter car. This is where i put my foot down, they drive the car provided for them by me or not at all. Safety has to be the primary concern.
Love the blog, makes great reading.

When my daughter started driving, I gave her my old truck. She loves it and I know she’ll be safer driving it.
